Louise Turvey

Louise works with individuals experiencing trauma, relational difficulties, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low self-worth, and the lasting impact of challenging life events. She takes a relational approach, helping you understand how past and present experiences shape your feelings, patterns, and ways of relating. Louise brings a calm, grounded presence to therapy, supporting you to explore difficult emotions and relationships safely.

Her work is thoughtful and collaborative, with a strong focus on helping you make sense of your experiences and move toward emotional clarity, regulation, and connection.

Therapeutic Models:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

  • Relational psychotherapy

  • Humanistic and person-centred approaches

  • Trauma-focused psychological therapies

  • Integrative psychotherapy

  • CBT-informed approaches where clinically indicated

Louise brings over twenty years of experience across NHS, voluntary, and private services, including youth mental health, drug and alcohol services, primary care counselling, and eating-disorder pathways. Her breadth of experience allows her to understand the many ways trauma and relational patterns can affect wellbeing, identity, and relationships.

She has specialist training in EMDR and has extensive experience working with trauma — including complex trauma, attachment wounds, and difficulties rooted in overwhelming or destabilising experiences. Louise previously served as Clinical Lead for Youth Mental Health at Kooth, where she oversaw safe, high-quality therapeutic provision for young people nationwide.

Her approach is relational, integrative, and grounded in evidence. She blends EMDR, humanistic, relational, and trauma-focused psychological models in a way that respects each person’s history, pace, and readiness. Louise brings a warm, steady presence to therapy and understands the courage it takes to begin this work. Her aim is always to create a therapeutic experience that feels containing, genuine, and growth-orientated.
